The regatta has a strong history of incorporating other important events such as being part of the series of regattas used as selection trials for the Americas Cup in the early part of the 20th century and indicator trials in the 1960s.
This year is no exception with the event incorporating:
- The J24, RS21, Impala 28 National Championships
- The IRC Southwest Championships (the IRC National Championships are part of Dartmouth Royal Regatta that follow the Torbay Royal Regatta)
- A strong Sportsboat entry is expected especially from the SB20 class with the World Championship coming to Torquay in 2027.
Plus, the Admirals cup for cross class teams and Addison Gold cup for best overall performance.
