Last Friday during Club Night in the bar, our Cruising Captain undertook consultation to plan our programme of cruises for the 2024 season.
We commence with our traditional start of season cruise to the River Dart arriving on Friday 26th April and returning on Sunday 28th April. The inside of Dartmouth Town Quay is booked with the option of extending the cruise to visit Dittisham and beyond. More detail to follow. Berthing space is limited with already only room for another 4 boats. To express interest email Martin Godfrey cruising@rtyc.org for instructions on payment of berthing space to the Harbourmaster in advance.
This year we hope to include at relatively short notice cruising opportunities for Beach BBQ’s and local ports of call subject to confidence in the forecasted weather. So stay tuned to future club newsletters for confirmation of provisional diary dates as the season progresses.
Another entry for your diary is Friday 13th July until Sunday 15th July for a cruise to Teignmouth Harbour berthing on their visitor pontoon. Option of chaperoned entry into the harbour for first-timers at this port, plus a super garden BBQ ashore !
In the pipeline is the possibility of a cruise in early August for the adventurous heading east to the Isle of Wight visiting Weymouth along the way and Poole on our return. Great opportunity for confidence building if you have ventured this far before.
Our cruising calendar would not be complete without visiting Lyme Regis to enjoy a classic seaside experience in the company of like-minded Skippers and Crew to enjoy time together on the water and ashore. This year we are aiming for early August with the option including a visit to West Bay on our return.
Other destinations being considered include Plymouth and Salcombe, and an extended cruise to Guernsey from 8th to the 14th June.
