Provides the skills and background knowledge needed by the competent powerboat driver and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence. It aims to teach boat handling and seamanship in powerboats. It focuses on low-speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planing speed, and collision regulations.

Minimum age: 12 years-
Although RYA Minimum age is 12, the Royal Torbay Yacht Club would recommend you speak to our Training Principal or Chief Instructor before booking this course for anyone under the age of 15.
Trainee : Instructor ratio: 1:3
Provided with the course: Powerboat Handbook, Powerboat Logbook and light refreshments
You will need: Writing materials, a recent passport photo (for your powerboat licence), appropriate clothing, buoyancy aid or life jacket (will need to conform to standards)(we have limited number to loan so please get in touch if you need one) , sun-screen, packed lunch.
