VICE COMMODORE’S CHRISTMAS MESSAGE 2024

Our Commodore is currently laid up and it falls to me to share this message with you all on his behalf. Looking back on 2024 we can reflect on another active and busy year both in the Club and on the water.

On the water the Club has enjoyed another great year of Club racing and other sailing activities, including Squadron 13 and the Motorboat and Cruising group, as well as a busy and successful year hosting Championships and other major events. Offshore Week continues to flourish, and plans are already well ahead for the 2025 event.

There is much to look forward to during 2025 with a lively Social Programme already in place for the early months.  Our energetic and enthusiastic Social Committee are working hard in finalising activities for the rest of the year, just follow the newsletters for details as they are announced. Our Friday night “Happy Hour” continues as popular as ever and a great occasion to meet up with fellow members.

The annual Christmas lunch was a great social occasion with members and their friends enjoying the festive gathering. Our thanks go to our bar and catering staff, who worked so hard and with such energy to ensure the success of the day and at all other events throughout the year. The annual Christmas Draw was well received by all, thank you to everyone who bought tickets and to those you so generously donated prizes.

A very significant achievement in 2024 has been the installation of new boilers, hot water system and radiators, we now have a much warmer club and a more efficient system. Thank you to members who responded to the appeal for donations and to those who worked on the project and installing the radiators.

Sadly, a number of our members and former members have passed away during the year and we remember them all and the part they played in the club at this time.

We share our sincere thanks to all members who have contributed in so many different ways to ensure the success of the many Club events, and in the day to day running of the club.  Finally, we would like to thank our fellow Flag Officers and all Committee members for their enthusiasm, commitment and hard work during the last year.

James will be sending a New Year’s message, and we wish him a speedy recovery.  A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your families.
