RYA Powerboat Level 2
November 20, 2021 – November 21, 2021
This two-day entry-level course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat. It focuses on low-speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planing speed, and collision regulations.
Your training will start at the Royal Torbay Yacht Club clubhouse, with the course generally running from around 08:30 – 16:00 each day. Specific times will vary for each course. Self-service complimentary refreshments will be available in the clubhouse training room, along with chilled water so please remember. to bring a water bottle. Following a short briefing, you will be taken harbourside for the practical part of the course to start.

Most of the tuition time will be on the water in one of our Club ribs. Once you have completed the course your instructor will issue your Powerboat 2 certificate.
Please ensure you bring the following items with you to ensure you get the most out of your training:
- Recent passport photo (not your actual passport)
- An appropriate bouyancy aid or life jacket
- Suitable clothing (you may get cold and will likely get wet at some point)
- A packed lunch and drink
- Pen and notepad
- Sea sickness tablets if you suffer from motion sickness
- High factor suncream and a hat
